Hello, I’m Cheryl.

My Background

I likely wouldn’t even know what a lactation consultant is if I hadn’t struggled to feed my own baby. I didn’t anticipate the depths of my own breastfeeding guilt and despair as well as the frustration with trying to be a perfect mom. But I met my first lactation consultant; we came up with a plan and I got the help I needed!

For over a decade, I have supported many new families experiencing breastfeeding and new parenting challenges.

I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC Number: L-164674) and completed my training at University of California San Diego - Extension and my internship with Natural Beginnings Birth and Wellness Center.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Tennessee. My work has focused on aging, hospice, early childhood intervention and elementary and middle school (yikes!) education and behavior.

I am also a yoga teacher with extensive prenatal and postnatal yoga training with Mamaste Yoga and Svaroopa Yoga. I live in Southeast Charlotte with my husband of 20+ years and our high school aged son (again, yikes!). We have two high maintenance but super lovable dogs, Matey, a senior, 115lb. boxer mix & Luna, pittie mix. Oh, and originally I’m from England, fancy a Cuppa tea Love?!

My Approach to Breastfeeding

I believe every parent has the ability to feed & nurture their baby

It may not always look as expected. Maybe a bottle or formula is part of your plan. You can totally do this.

Each Breastfeeding Journey is unique

Breastfeeding (parenting in general) is no place for comparison or competition. How long or “exclusive” someone breastfeeds shouldn’t mean diddly-squat. The goal is healthy parent, healthy baby and you forming an amazing bond with your baby.
